The Kentucky Division of Water is partnering with FEMA to conduct an Early Demonstration Project (EDP) for Discovery activities. Discovery is the process in Risk MAP for collecting information that allows for a more comprehensive understanding of a watershed’s flood risk and flood mitigation capabilities and initiates a conversation about enhancing a watershed vision to watershed stakeholders. Data gathered includes information that influences flood risk or risk decision making, historical flooding information, existing flood hazard data and information and mitigation activities.
Two Discovery meetings have been conducted in the Salt River Watershed; one on Dec. 20, 2010 in Shelbyville and one on Jan. 5, 2011 in Shepherdsville. Additional coordination with the watershed stakeholders is forthcoming and results from the EDP will be posted at the project’s completion in March 2011. See the links below for more information regarding the Salt River EDP.
