The mission of the Kentucky Division of Water is to manage, protect and enhance the quality and quantity of the Commonwealth's water resources for present and future generations through voluntary, regulatory and educational programs.
The Division of Water (DOW) posts, on this Web site, documents related to public notices of wastewater discharge permit applications, water quality certifications (WQCs), socioeconomic demonstration and alternatives analysis (SDAAs) and state planning and environmental assessment reports (SPEARs). Go to the Public Notices and Hearings page to review these documents.
DOW is preparing a new general storm water permit to address stormwater exposure and runoff as well as antidegradation requirements. Facilities that are currently permitted or plan to seek coverage under the new permit are invited to complete this Stormwater Survey to provide specific information on stormwater exposure and pollutants associated with their operations. Click here to learn more about the survey and how it will be used. Review the list of categorized pollutants.
The electronic Notice of Intent (eNOI) for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activity (KPDES Form NOI-SWCA) under the KPDES General Permit is available on the Web.
For the eNOI, click here or visit https://dep.gateway.ky.gov/eForms/default.aspx?FormID=7

Nonpoint source pollution (NPS), also known as runoff pollution, is the number one contributor to water pollution in the Commonwealth. Each year, federal funding authorized by Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act is provided to the Kentucky Division of Water's Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program for projects that help reduce, mitigate or prevent runoff pollution.
To be considered for this competitive 2010 funding, applicants must submit a Project Proposal form by Feb. 1, 2010. More information is available here or by calling Jim Roe at 502-564-3410.
Project questionnaires for the 2011 Call for Projects will be accepted from Oct. 26, 2009, to Jan. 6, 2010, for the 2011 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and the 2011 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). These fund programs provide low-interest loans for water and sewer projects. If you are interested in receiving funding, submit a project questionnaire for your project. The Division of Water (DOW) will use this information to rank the project based on the published set of criteria.
Learn more about the funding program and the application procedure on the DOW CWSRF Web page and the DOW DWSRF Web page. The Kentucky Infrastructure Authority is also a good site for information.
The State Stream and Wetland Conservation Plan survey recently released by the Kentucky Division of Water reveals the majority of respondents believe that Kentucky's streams and wetlands are of critical importance and need to be protected from the effects of development and resource extraction.

Drive home your support for the outdoors and keep Kentucky in a natural state by buying a Nature License Plate. All proceeds from the sale of nature license plates are deposited into the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Funds, and the Wild Rivers Program receives 10 percent of those funds.
